Sod Post Care Instructions

March 16th-May 15th

Instructions are informative only, different soil types may require different amounts of water. Instructions do not account for rainfall or extreme temperatures outside of May- Sept. Please use common sense and best judgement when watering, if water is ponding decrease the water, if browning have someone take a look to ensure it is dry before you mistake insects for drought and cause rot by over- watering. We are not responsible for over/ under watering.

All turf types in direct sunlight
Days 1-7: Water 2x daily at 7am and 1pm, 30 mins rotors and 15 mins sprays and 45- 60 mins MP Rotors (or equivalent).

Days 16-22: Reduce water to 4x per week and change start time to 1am, run rotors at 50-60 mins, sprays 25-30 mins, MP Rotors, (or equivalent), at 60-90 mins.

Days 15- 22: Reduce watering to 4x per week, same run times as above, change start time to 1 a.m. Monitor to ensure this is adequate water as well as you are not over- watering; the amount of shade, how well your soil drains, and heat will all determine this.
Days 23 and on: Eliminate one day today and again every seven days until you eventually get to two days per week watering, odd addresses are normally Wednesday and Saturday, even addresses are normally Thursday and Sunday.

May 16th- September 30th

This will be the most difficult time to establish new sod, you will need to ensure you turn sprinklers off when you receive adequate rainfall and that the system is running when it is dry. Monitor the lawn carefully for any chewing or browning as that will indicate you have fungus, lack of water, or webworms. Do not assume that browning indicates dry grass, as over- watering grass that has been infested by webworms will lead to rot. We are not responsible for over/ under watering.

The following applies to all turf types in direct sunlight, though Bahia can survive on 1x per day watering:

Days 1- 7: Water 3x daily at 7am, 11am, 1:30pm, 15 mins rotors, 8 mins sprays, 30 mins MP rotors (or equivalent).
Days 8-15: Water 1x daily at 7am, rotors 50 mins, sprays 25 mins, MP rotors (or equivalent) 60-90 mins.
Days 16-23: Water 4x weekly at 1am, rotors 50 mins, sprays 25 mins, MP rotors (or equivalent) 60-90 mins.
Days 24 and on: Reduce 1 day today and again every seven days until eventually down to 2x per week watering, Wednesday and Saturday for odd addresses and Thursday and Sunday for even addresses.

Turf installed beneath shade: (Be careful not to over- water, it is not recommended to install shade tolerant turf this time of year)

Days 1- 14: Water 1x daily at 7am, 50 mins rotors and 25 mins sprays.
Days 15-22: Reduce watering to 4x per week, same run times as above, change start time to 1 a.m.
